Lucas Greenhouses
Picture
Established in 1979, Lucas Greenhouses has developed a reputation in the greenhouse industry for growing the very best product and providing the finest customer service.  No matter the size of your company or order, Luca’s approach is to treat each customer and order with the personal attention they need.

Whether you are a professional landscaper or an innovative garden center, Lucas Greenhouses is the place to go for a full line of best-selling annuals, mums and poinsettias.  With almost 1.5 million square foot of state-of-the-art  indoor growing facilities and more than 30 acres of outdoor production Lucas Greenhouses is one of the largest of its kind.

Lucas Greenhouses is located in Southern New Jersey just a short drive from Philadelphia and within 2 hours of both New York City and Baltimore.  The company has received numerous industry awards including the prestigious Greenhouse Grower Magazine "Grower of the Year" award in 2009 and 2012. Lucas employs over 150 people who help produce the finest quality products available.

George and his wife Louise are the owners of Lucas Greenhouses.  Starting the company back in the late 70's, George is still heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the company.  You will often find him running around the greenhouse in an old t-shirt and ripped jeans.  If you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to contact George.  When he is not at the greenhouse you can usually find him either on his boat or enjoying a day of golf with family.

In Memory of Phillip Alampi
A first-generation American, Phillip Alampi grew up on a small farm in Williamstown and graduated from Glassboro High School, where he was active in Future Farmers of America and 4-H. After graduating from Rutgers in 1934, he taught high school vocational education in Salem County for ten years. After completing a master's degree in education in 1945, he became a farm broadcaster. For the next decade, Alampi hosted various popular radio and television shows, many of them co-hosted and produced by his wife, Ruth.

In 1956, he was appointed New Jersey's Secretary of Agriculture, where he served under five different governors for a total of 26 years— longer than any cabinet member in the state's history. In that post, he successfully fought to preserve the state's farmland and to market the state's agricultural goods. He later became known as "Mr. Garden State."

After retiring in 1982, Alampi served as president of 42 civic and professional organizations and earned 146 awards, including an honorary doctorate from Rutgers in 1969 and the Rutgers Alumni Association's Ernest T. Gardner Award for public leadership in 1985. Phillip Alampi passed away in 1992, at age 79.
