Teacher of the Year |
Frank Fuzy is a graduate of Kean University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Psychology and a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision. Since 1995, Mr. Fuzy has been a third grade teacher at Tamaques Elementary School in Westfield, New Jersey. Applying the woodworking skills he learned from his father, Mr. Fuzy assumed a leadership role in the establishment of the Tamaques School Gardens, a whole-school community gardening program designed to promote healthy eating and an appreciation for locally grown produce. From building the garden beds to modeling lessons for classroom teachers, Mr. Fuzy has played a key role in every aspect of the garden’s development. An outdoor enthusiast, Frank embraces opportunities to teach in the natural environment with the hope that his students’ third grade experience will instill an appreciation of nature and a commitment to its protection.
