The New Jersey Agricultural Society is the oldest agricultural organization of its type in the nation. Established in 1781, its mission is to preserve and enhance agriculture, farming, and related activities and businesses in NJ through educational, informational, and promotional programs.
Collecting surplus produce from farms ("gleaning"), grocery stores, and wholesale suppliers and distributing to those in need through local hunger relief organizations throughout NJ.
|
Growing school gardens to increase understanding of agriculture: how food is grown and where it comes from, providing opportunities for students to try new foods and helping to create an outdoor learning lab!
|
Developing the next generation of skilled and knowledgeable leaders who can encourage positive action on key issues and policies to advance NJ's agricultural industry.

Important Updates: Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
Farmers Against Hunger works year-round to provide free and healthy produce to our community members in need. Due to the pandemic and subsequent rise in food insecurity, our work is more important than ever. We understand that the current situation is affecting all of us and more than anything, we hope that you and your families are healthy and safe.
If, however, you are in a position to help, we hope you will consider a gift to support us as we work to feed our neighbors. Contributions to Farmers Against Hunger will be used immediately as emergency relief, for basic supplies and operational expenses as we continue to secure produce donations from our farm and wholesale partners and distribute it to those who need it most. If you can make a gift, it would go a long way to supporting this work. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. |
"Thank you for everyone that helped make this happen. We were fortunate enough to get through and what you provided will go a long way!"

with Us !

The Learning Through Gardening program provides schools with the materials to build vegetable gardens and gives teachers the curriculum, training and support they need to merge their school garden with the core curriculum. In the past 20 years, Learning Through Gardening has launched elementary school gardens, throughout New Jersey, in urban, suburban, and rural neighborhoods. Teachers and schools apply to become part of a three-year Growing Together affiliation, which today includes a network of schools statewide.
We believe that if children are educated about the abundant fruits and vegetables grown in New Jersey and their health benefits, they are more likely to become avid, lifelong consumers of fresh produce and advocates for agriculture.
